UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Remarks on Women’s right

Washington, 25 September 2021 (TDI): UN Women Asia Pacific shared the news on its Twitter account Saturday 25 September which was published by UN News on 21 September 2021. They have tweeted comments of Michelle Bachelet United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights that says “In short, Afghan women and girls’ human rights must be upheld and defended” and attached the link of the actual news to raise awareness on women’s situation in Afghanistan.

He further informed that women have been excluded from the public sphere for 20 years and they were prohibited from stepping out of the house without any male guardian. Now when Afghanistan has been facing humanitarian crisis women there are facing restrictions on their right to work.

The Human rights chief also mentioned that “Women’s rights have been supported by the government once but now it has been disbanded. Now the government is taken by all-male Ministers who will only apply the restriction and limitation on Women’s life and dressing styles”. The news also shared a tweet of UNICEF Chief – Henrietta H. Fore. She has explained that UNICEF is on the working ground for children of Afghanistan. She also mentioned that they will continue their support of Afghanistan but they need help to continue efforts there.
