MOU Signed between USAID Power Africa and Denmark’s Foreign Ministry

Washington, 25 September 2021 (TDI): On Monday, Samantha Power, Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), announced the signing of the first-ever Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between USAID Power Africa and Denmark’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The MoU was signed in the presence of  Denmark’s Minister for Development and Nordic Cooperation, Flemming Mortensen.

The Memorandum of Understanding aims at mobilizing investment in renewable energy projects, providing access to training and finance for the African entrepreneurs, particularly women; besides supporting the next generation’s innovative energy solutions meant to tackle energy poverty and climate change in the region of sub-Saharan Africa.

Administrator Samantha Power met with Flemming Møller Mortensen, Denmark’s Minister for Development Cooperation and Nordic Cooperation, on Friday. The officials converged on various issues, including Covid-19, climate financing, and humanitarian response priorities in Ethiopia and Afghanistan. They also reiterated the shared commitment between Denmark and the United States for advancing democracy and good governance across the globe.
