UN efforts to address world problems at Expo 2020 Dubai

New York, 2 October 2021 (TDI): United Nations has joined Expo 2020 Dubai with exhibits & events showcasing efforts to address world problems and to ensure a better future. The UN is planning a series of events at the UN Hub to raise awareness regarding world poverty, peace, and equality.

The Expo was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, which is why it was launched in 2021. It is one of the world’s biggest events held in the Arab world that aims to kickstart a recovery of the United Arab Emirates tourism, and economy. There will be 192 pavilions belonging to various countries and there will be some special pavilions containing themes of mobility, opportunity, and sustainability. However, there is one pavilion called Mission Possible, which houses the United Nations hub.

At the Expo, the UN is planning a series of events which include workshops, film screening, immersive experiences, interactive exhibitions, advocacy campaigns, installations, and cultural performances. There will be dialogues and conversations on various topics related to Sustainable Development Goals.

Several people all over the world are expected to visit the six months of Expo which is going to end in March 2022. It is an opportunity for the UN to display the work of the organization and demonstrate the need to overcome climate challenges and other global crises. According to the UN News, Maher Nasser – the Commissioner-General for the UN at Expo, the theme of the event is “connecting minds creating the future”, with a pure focus on the SDGs.
