UN Counter-Terrorism and Training Office inaugurated in Rabat

Rabat: June 25, 2021 (TDI): The foreign minister of Morocco Naseer Bourita inaugurated the UN Counter-Terrorism and Training Office in Africa, in Rabat Morocco. Mr. Vladimir Voronkov the under-secretary-general of UN OCT also joined him via a video conference.

The UN Resident Coordinator in Morocco, Sylvia Lopez-Ekra, Mr. Mouhamadou Youssifou Dean of African Ambassadors in Rabat, and Mr. Carlos Reis Head of the UN OCT Program Office for Counter-Terrorism and Training in Africa also attended the inauguration.

FM Naseer Bourita addressed on the occasion and stressed the alarming spread of terrorism in the region and the need for such a program to counter it. He reaffirmed Morocco’s role as a regional security and peace provider. He stated that Morocco will fully support the UN OCT objectives.FM also congratulated the Un secretary-general for his support in the project.
