London, 7 September 2021 (TDI): The UK Foreign Office announced key priorities of the British Government for Afghanistan. It includes pressing the Taliban for providing basic rights to all in Afghanistan.

The Foreign Office shared a video statement of the UK’s Chargé d’Affaires to Afghanistan, Martin Longden. Martin said that the Taliban have to guarantee the freedom of movement to all those who want to leave Afghanistan. He mentioned that it was a difficult job for them to repatriate 15,000 people from Afghanistan but they have successfully done it. Yet, the mission is not fully completed. The British Government will push the Taliban to facilitate the movement of remaining people in Afghanistan. The rights of Afghan people to humanitarian support and freedom of movement are UK’s top priority. He said that his government is still committed to ensuring humanitarian support to all the vulnerable groups in Afghanistan. It will keep on advocating the rights of the Afghan people in this critical situation.
