UAE Promises Action on Visa Issues Faced by Pakistanis

Abu Dhabi (TDI): The United Arab Emirates has promised to take concrete steps to resolve visa-related problems faced by Pakistani citizens, especially those seeking work opportunities in the Gulf state.

The assurance came during a meeting between Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Lt Gen Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.

Naqvi, who was warmly received at the UAE Interior Ministry, was given a guard of honour before being introduced to senior officials.

The visit focused on boosting cooperation in multiple areas, including immigration, security, and narcotics control.

Speaking at the meeting, Naqvi highlighted the difficulties Pakistanis have been facing with visa processing and work permits.

“Our goal is to make the process smoother for Pakistani workers. Relaxing visa policies would be a big help,” he told his Emirati counterpart.

In response, Sheikh Saif assured Naqvi that the UAE would fully support efforts to address these issues and said his ministry was already reviewing steps to ease the process.

During his visit, Naqvi also toured Abu Dhabi Police’s operations and surveillance centre, where he was briefed on how technology is being used to monitor urban safety and fight crime.

He expressed admiration for the UAE’s advanced system and said Pakistan was keen to learn from the model.

Naqvi wrapped up the visit by calling UAE-Pakistan relations a “brotherly bond” and stressed that Islamabad hopes to strengthen this partnership across all fields, especially public welfare and national security.
