Ashgabat, 12 August 2023 (TDI): The Republic of Turkmenistan in its efforts to enhance development and strengthen global peace and security within the United Nations framework, defined strategies for constructive cooperation at the regional and global levels.

In this regard, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow noted that the country will adhere to the policy of neutrality based on good neighbourliness, mutual respect, equality and mutually beneficial cooperation with all states of the world.

 

The country’s membership and active participation in regional, interstate and international cooperations serve as pragmatic mechanisms to strengthen the culture of peace in the international milieu.

Turkmenistan’s large-scale, purposeful and long-term cooperation with the United Nations has also been noted as the strategic course of the country’s foreign policy.

Hence, the Turkmen state is a supporter of the efforts of the world community to strengthen the coordinating role of the UN in terms of preserving and maintaining the system of modern global actions aimed at ensuring global peace.

Additionally, Turkmenistan’s initiatives in the context of international obligations focus on further deepening constructive dialogue in the basic areas of global development. This covers political, diplomatic, energy, environmental and humanitarian issues.

The country has also prepared its priorities and international initiatives to address global issues at the forthcoming regular 78th session of the UN General Assembly.

Furthermore, the Turkmen state comes up with a specific initiative to organize, together with the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, a separate Ministerial Dialogue on financing the SDGs.

Thereby adopting a resolution of the UN General Assembly “Stable, sustainable and reliable energy mobility, and its key role in ensuring sustainable development.”

The draft resolution also provides for the possibility of holding the International Forum “Sustainable Energy for All” in Ashgabat in 2025.
