Islamabad, 31 August 2023 (TDI): Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani held a meeting with Atadjan Movlamov, the Dean of the diplomatic corps, and the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Pakistan in Islamabad on Thursday.
During their conversation, the Foreign Minister and Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Pakistan talked about the current status of bilateral relations and conveyed their determination to enhance the bonds in different areas of shared concern.
In a recent instance of significant diplomatic interaction, Pakistan and Turkmenistan have collaboratively committed to increasing their endeavors to accelerate the progress of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) Gas Pipeline project.
Recently, Ambassador Atadjan Movlamov of Turkmenistan engaged in discussions with Muhammad Ali, Pakistan’s Interim Federal Minister for Energy, to review the progress of the significant energy infrastructure initiative related to the TAPI project.

Federal Minister Ali emphasized the utmost importance of natural gas for Pakistan’s economic well-being and highlighted the necessity for a proactive strategy to address the country’s swiftly increasing energy demands.
He firmly restated Pakistan’s resolute dedication to the TAPI project and expressed anticipation for the finalization of the Host Government Agreement (HGA) through mutual consensus by October.
Additionally, Minister Ali highlighted the frequent meetings of the working group responsible for the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) electricity project as a pivotal factor propelling its swift progress.

This renewed dedication marks a notable achievement in ensuring a steady energy supply and promoting intensified regional collaboration.

As a result, the TAPI Gas Pipeline project emerged as a crucial element in the energy landscape of South Asia.
