Global, 31 August 2023(TDI): On August 31, the Kyrgyz Republic celebrated its 29th Independence Day. This day commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of State Independence by the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR nearly three decades ago.

President Sooronbai Jeenbekov conveyed his congratulations, highlighting the enduring sense of freedom in the hearts of the people.

Despite the challenges posed by the global pandemic, President Jeenbekov expressed determination to overcome it through unity and harmony.

He also reflected on the nation’s historical trials and international recognition of its statehood and independence, praising the unity and resilience of its multinational population.

Independence Day in Kyrgyzstan marks its liberation from the Soviet Union in 1991, following a history that includes its incorporation into the Russian Empire in 1876 and subsequent administrative changes within the Soviet framework.

The celebration includes official speeches, solemn ceremonies, military demonstrations, outdoor performances, concerts, sporting events, and fireworks, with the capital city of Bishkek hosting the main festivities.

The Honorable Speaker of the Pakistani National Assembly also sends its heartfelt congratulations to the people of Kyrgyzstan on their Independence Day.

On this day, in commemoration of the Declaration of Independence, the EU Delegation partakes in honoring the bravery and perseverance of the Kyrgyz people. EU felicitates and wishes Kyrgyz a day repleting with happiness, pride, and encouragement.

Moroever, Antony J. Blinken, U.S. Secretary of State extended warm wishes to the Kyrgyz Republic on behalf of the United States.

He reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to Kyrgyzstan’s sovereignty and independence, emphasizing collaboration in various areas, including economic and security ties, women’s economic security, and clean energy.

The United States aims to support institutions fostering a free and thriving society in the Kyrgyz Republic and looks forward to a resilient, prosperous, and secure future for the country, along with a strong U.S.-Kyrgyz partnership.

Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed warm wishes to Kyrgyzstan on their National Day and expressed eagerness to enhance cooperation on various fronts.

Greece’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveyed sincere greetings to Kyrgyzstan’s government and citizens in celebration of their Independence Day.

Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also extended best wishes to Kyrgyzstan on Independence Day, highlighting the strong bond between the two nations.
