Lasbela, 3 August 2022 (TDI): The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has experienced its deepest condolences on the death of six military officers in a helicopter crash. The helicopter crash happened in Balochistan province in Pakistan on 1 August 2022. The helicopter was involved in relief work in Balochistan, Pakistan.

Unfortunately, the helicopter crash resulted in the deaths of six military officers including Commander XII Corps Lieutenant General Sarfraz Ali. Ali supervised the relief work in Balochistan province. Other officers include Saeed Ahmed, Mohammad Talha, Amjad Hanif, Muhammad Khalid, and Naik Mudassir Fayyaz.

Babar Iftikhar, the Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations also said that bad weather conditions led to the helicopter crash.

The helicopter took off from Uthal on its way to Karachi when it lost connection with the Air Traffic Controller.

The Balochistan province has experienced severe floods in the past weeks due to seasonal monsoon rains. This made the military and Pakistani navy organize their staff and resources to aid the civilians in the area.

According to Pakistan authorities, the country has also experienced an increase in the number of rain-related deaths to 500. Monsoon rains begin in July through to September.

The President of Pakistan, Arif-ur-Rehman Alvi, also offered his deep condolences and expressed his grief to Qamar Javed Bajwa, the Army Chief on a phone call.
