Trump wins back key state of Georgia

Washington (TDI): Former president Donald Trump has won the battleground state of Georgia, returning its 16 electoral votes to the Republican, the Associated Press reports.

Georgia was considered as swing state that could go either way, to vote for Republican or otherwise.

With Trump’s victory in Georgia, the state becomes the first to flip from the 2020 results, AP highlights.

Since 1996 the state was considered as constituency of majority vote for republicans, however, Joe Biden narrowly carried Georgia in 2020.

According to the news wire, Trump tried to overturn his 2020 loss in Georgia, setting off a political and legal struggle that led to his indictment in the state.
