Washington (TDI): US President Donald Trump has reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to maintaining security and stability in the Gulf region in a letter addressed to Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
According to the Bahrain News Agency, Trump also praised Bahrain’s national unity and resilience in the face of escalating regional tensions and what he described as Iran’s violations of international law.
The message comes amid continued instability in the Gulf following months of conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel, which has significantly impacted regional security and global energy routes.
Bahrain has remained one of the key strategic allies of the United States in the region and hosts the headquarters of the US Naval Forces Central Command and the Fifth Fleet.
Since the start of the US-Israeli military campaign against Iran on February 28, Bahraini air defense systems have reportedly intercepted and destroyed at least 188 ballistic missiles and 477 drones launched from Iran.
Bahrain was among several countries targeted during the regional escalation, although it did not directly participate in US-led military operations against Tehran.
