Abu Dhabi, 5 December 2021 (TDI): The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of East Timor or Timor-Leste, Adaljiza Magno visited United Arab Emirates (UAE). Whilst there, she met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the UAE, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the Dubai Expo 2020.

The two counterparts discussed areas of mutual interest pertaining to bilateral ties and the cooperation between the UAE and Timor-Leste. Sheikh Abdullah welcomed Adaljiza Magno to UAE.

The two sides deliberated about the role of Expo 2020 Dubai in augmenting the collaboration between the two partners. Timor-Leste also has a pavilion at the Dubai Expo 2020.

In addition, they also exchanged views on the value of promoting international alliances and collusion between states in all spheres, specifically in the economic realm. Adaljiza Magno congratulated her counterpart on the auspicious occasion of the 50th National Day of UAE. Moreover, she lauded UAE’s outstanding regional and international eminence.

She also called on Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh. He is the Minister of State for Asia-Pacific Affairs at the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, to discuss issues related to mutual advantage.

Timor-Leste and UAE have diplomatic bilateral relations that encompass mutually beneficial ties. The two collaborate in various sectors including trade and economy.
