Pakistan, 4th September 2021 (TDI): The Delegation of the European Union to Pakistan is Pakistan-EU’s first Business Forum in Islamabad. It opens a new window of opportunity for all small businesses and enterprises which can now establish linkages to expand their trade in the EU market.
The forum is being launched by EU delegates to Pakistan. This is an important step to strengthen and enhance the bilateral trade relations between the EU and Pakistan. It is expected that the forum would be attended by the representatives of major key sectors, like information technology, gems, jewelry, mining, handicrafts, and fashion. This forum would be also providing an opportunity for the travel and tourism department.
In the first session is in Islamabad, the representations would brief the participants about the EU’s Generalized Scheme of Preference (GSP+) Scheme and how can one attain maximum benefits from it. The GSP+ provides two-thirds of tariff lines duty-free access to the EU market. It is expected that after the Islamabad Business Forum later this year, it would follow with meetings in Lahore and Karachi, where more sectors would be included, such as agriculture and auto-parts manufacturers.
Ambassador of the European Union to Pakistan, H. E. Mrs. Androulla Kaminara said it’s a tremendous opportunity for the business community to expand and explore the EU market with the EU-favored GSP+ concessions.
