London, 6 May 2023 (TDI): On the historic day of the Coronation ceremony on 6th May 2023, Charles III and his wife, Camilla, were crowned as the King and Queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms in a grand ceremony held at Westminster Abbey.
This momentous event followed the demise of Charles’ mother, Elizabeth II, upon which he ascended to the throne on 8th September 2022.
The magnificent ceremony was steeped in Christian symbolism and centered around an Anglican service of Holy Communion. Charles was anointed and bestowed with the coronation regalia before being crowned, highlighting his spiritual duties and secular responsibilities.
Representatives of the Church of England and the British royal family pledged their allegiance to him, and the people of the Commonwealth realms were also invited to do the same. Camilla, in a shorter and simpler ceremony, was also crowned as the Queen.
After the service, a state procession led the royal family to Buckingham Palace, where they appeared on the palace’s balcony.

It was also shorter in duration than the 1953 coronation of Charles’ mother, Elizabeth II. The ceremony was indeed a testament to the British monarchy’s evolution and adaptation to the changing times and values of the country.
Exciting plans are in place to commemorate the occasion across various regions of the world, including Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, as well as the Crown Dependencies and overseas territories.
