Tashkent, 23 August 2021 (TDI): President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon spoke over the phone with the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Both parties put emphasis on the matters of regional cooperation. They discussed the current situation in Afghanistan, a neighboring country. Both sides committed to limit the escalation of violence in Afghanistan, as well as the international engagement for a diplomatic settlement in Afghanistan.
In the end, both parties agreed to keep regular contact in order to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
