Singapore, 18 November 2021 (TDI): The Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies of Singapore, Heng Swee Keat received the Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Philip Mpango.
The Vice President of Tanzania is visiting Singapore from 15th to 20th November. During his stay, he will also attend the Bloomberg New Economy Forum.
Bloomberg New Economy Forum
Michael Bloomberg established the Bloomberg New Economy Forum in 2018. It is a community of global leaders engaging with the most significant economic changes and challenges of the world. The fourth annual flagship Forum is hosted by Singapore from 16-19 November.

In the backdrop of the global pandemic and the subsequent economic challenges, the Forum holds great significance to create new economic avenues. The founder of the Bloomberg Forum considers the quick transition from COP26 to the Forum convenient.
It will pave way for the recovery of a sustainable economy. Likewise, it offers potentially beneficial economic ventures to countries like Tanzania.
The theme of the 2021 Forum is Rebuilding the Global Economy, Innovating out of Crisis, and Navigating a Divided World. Singapore Government is managing the protocols to ensure a safe environment for the delegates.

Bilateral Economic Collaboration between Tanzania and Singapore
During the meeting, the two reiterated their commitment to enhancing bilateral ties between the two states. They also discussed recent developments in both countries.
Aside from that, the duo exchanged views on the potential for stronger bilateral economic collaboration as well as the integration of regional economies; as Tanzania is one of Africa’s fastest-growing economies.
Singapore and Tanzania enjoy warm and cordial relations. The diplomatic relations between the two countries were first established in 1980. Business and trade ties between the two are strong and are expected to get a boost through the Economic Forum.
