Indonesian FM meets Tanzanian FM
Foreign Minister of Tanzania, Stergomena Tax, arrived in Jakarta and was welcomed by her counterpart, Retno Marsudi, the Foreign Minister of Indonesia.

Jakarta, 23 June 2023 (TDI): Foreign Minister of Tanzania, Stergomena Tax, arrived in Jakarta yesterday.

She was welcomed by her counterpart, Retno Marsudi, the Foreign Minister of Indonesia. The reason for her arrival was to open up an embassy in Jakarta.

An official press release was issued by the Indonesian government welcoming the Foreign Minister of Tanzania, Stergomena Tax.

A meeting was held between the ministers before the inauguration of the Embassy.

During the bilateral meeting, both ministers stressed the importance of increasing economic cooperation between the two countries.

They also discussed the planning for more high-level official visits in the coming half of the year.

Inauguration Ceremony

After the meeting, Stergomena Tax and Retno Marsudi inaugurated the Tanzanian Embassy in Jakarta.

During the ceremony, Tanzanian Minister Stergomena Tax emphasized the friendship between both countries.

She said that this Embassy will increase the bond of friendship and cooperation between the friendly countries.

The diplomatic ties between Tanzania and Indonesia have been established since 1964, but the Embassy of Tanzania has been in Malaysia up until now.

Indonesian Minister Retno Marsudi said that the new Embassy will enhance the friendship not only between the two countries but many other African countries as well.

She also said that Indonesia and Tanzania have cooperated in fields like food security, trade, investment, and education over the last five years.

She assured that similar cooperation will take place in agriculture, mining, and energy in the upcoming years.

Tanzanian Ambassador to Indonesia, Macocha Tembele, was also present during the ceremony and expressed his opinion to the press.

He said that the opening of the Embassy is a sign that the relationship between the two countries is strengthening.

He also said that many areas of cooperation will be under focus, such as trade, agriculture, and investment.

He is also planning to invest in the tourism and hospitality industry to improve the relationship between both sides.
