Islamabad, 13 December 2022 (TDI): Spokesperson of Foreign Office, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch in a statement confirmed the two-day visit of the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon to Pakistan today.
According to the Statement, on the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon will arrive on a two-day official visit to Pakistan on 14 December 2022. He will also meet the President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi.
During his two-day visit, both sides will engage in bilateral meetings and exchange views on further strengthening bilateral cooperation in a wide range of areas.
The two sides will sign multiple bilateral agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoU), Foreign Office.
Foreign Office shared that the President of Tajikistan’s visit will impart a renewed impetus to deepening cooperation between the two countries in diverse fields and further strengthen the growing geo-economic partnership.

Pakistan and Tajikistan have brotherly relations linked through longstanding history, cultural, and religious bonds. These ties are marked by mutual respect and exceptional cordiality, the Spokesperson noted.
Furthermore, in a statement, she said the two countries have a commonality of views on regional and international issues.
Pakistan-Tajikistan Relations
Pakistan and Tajikistan have had strong diplomatic relations since the latter got independence in 1991. Pakistan was the first country to recognize Tajikistan and opened its embassy in Dushanbe in 1993.
On 1 June 1992, the Governments of Pakistan and Tajikistan jointly signed the protocol on the establishment of the Tajikistan-Pakistan Joint Commission in Islamabad. It played a key mechanism in the development of bilateral economic cooperation.
In three decades of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Tajikistan, both states have realized the potential and strengthened cooperation in multiple sectors including trade, defense, energy, security, infrastructural development, and cultural cooperation.
President Emomali Rahmon visited Pakistan twice in December 2015 and September 2021. Both countries had signed several agreements and participated in different summits to exchange views on how to improve bilateral relations.
