Damascus, 13 January 2022 (TDI): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Syria released a statement pertaining to Israeli aggression on the commercial port of Latakia.
According to the statement, the cowardly attacks by Israel were enacted at 3:25 am on Tuesday, 28 December 2021. The attack led to the destruction of civilian equipment as well as facilities. Consequently, more than 500 containers were demolished.
The containers included oil and spare parts for machinery and cars.
Furthermore, “Al Mada” hospital along with the adjacent buildings and shops in the area were damaged because of the cowardly Israeli attack. Earlier, on 7 December, the aircrafts of the Israeli occupation also carried out a missile attack that targeted the container yard of the Latakia port, as well.
This aggression is the embodiment o the policies of Israel that represent its government’s continued support for terrorist outfits like ISIS, Jabhat al-Nusra, and other such organizations.
Such attacks are meant to shift the attention from the profound crisis that the Israeli entity is undergoing, for the purpose of delaying the progress in the political process to resolve the crisis in Syria.
Israeli must compensate the owners of the destroyed properties during this treacherous aggression, which has caused the loss of tens of millions of dollars.
The Syrian Ministry urged the Security Council and the Human Rights Council in the statement to take appropriate action against the aggression. According to the statement, the aforementioned organizations should be watchful about the Israeli aggression as well as other attacks that target the Syrian people, including children women, and other elderly civilians.
The Foreign Ministry urged the international organizations to undertake their responsibility in maintaining international peace and security along with preserving human rights.
Such episodes of aggression can lead to an outbreak of tensions in the region. Moreover, they are a flagrant offense against human rights, especially the right to life.
