Syria-Bahrain diplomatic relations
Waheed Mubarak Sayyar is the first Ambassador who has been appointed to Syria in more than a decade. The appointment of Bahrain’s Ambassador to Syria shows improvement in Arab countries’ relations with Damascus since the outbreak of the Syrian civil war.
The Ambassador has been appointed by Bahrain’s King as the Kingdom’s “Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Syria”. The embassy of Bahrain in Damascus was reopened in 2018.
Ambassador Sayyar has affirmed Bahrain’s support to Syria in several sectors. Previously this year, the two sides met to discuss cooperation in economics, trade, scientific, health, cultural, transportation, and tourism sectors.
