Ramallah, October 20, 2021 (TDI): During a meeting with Palestinian leaders, the Swedish Foreign Minister confirms her continued support for development.

Diplomatic relations between the two countries were strengthened after the public recognition of Palestine by Sweden in 2014. Thus, Sweden became the first EU member in Western Europe to officially recognize the state of Palestine.

Palestinian officials confirmed the support provided by Sweden through an official statement. In this, the European country will continue to provide $ 30 million in support annually until 2024. This initiative is part of the Swedish development support plan.

She stressed the continuation of this Swedish commitment to the State of Palestine. Likewise, the Foreign Minister says that improved Swedish-Israeli relations will not affect Palestinians negatively. Ms. Linde also points at widespread corruption within Palestinian Authority as an obstacle for Swedish ambitions to help with economic development.
