Islamabad (TDI): On the occasion of the International Day of the Girl Child, marked annually on October 11, the Swedish Ambassador to Pakistan, Alex Berg von Linde, shared a message of empowerment and importance of leadership opportunities for girls across Pakistan.
In a post on social media app X, the ambassador shared her personal encounter from a recent field visit to Sindh with UNICEF Pakistan.
During the visit, she met a 13-year-old girl named Zahim in the village of Bassoro. Zahim shared her dream of becoming a police inspector one day; a goal that symbolizes the aspirations of countless young girls across the country.

“She dreams of becoming a police inspector,” the envoy wrote, adding that “When girls get the opportunity to learn and lead, they transform their future and communities.”
The ambassador’s social post also carried a call to action, urging support for girls not only on the International Day of the Girl Child but every day of the year.
The International Day of the Girl Child, each year, aims to amplify the voices of young girls around the world and highlight the challenges they face, including barriers to education, gender-based violence, and early marriage.
This year’s theme focuses on investing in girls’ rights and leadership to build a more inclusive and equitable future.
