Islamabad (TDI): Sweden has announced humanitarian assistance for Pakistan, allocating 3 million Swedish Kronor (around Rs.90 million) through Islamic Relief Pakistan to support families hit by recent floods.
According to Swedish Ambassador to Pakistan Alex Berg von Linde, the new funding will be used to provide essential food supplies, clean drinking water, and emergency shelters, particularly in flood-affected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
This contribution comes on top of the 66 million SEK Sweden has already extended to Pakistan this year in humanitarian aid.
The envoy reaffirmed Sweden’s solidarity with the people of Pakistan, noting that the support is aimed at helping vulnerable communities recover from the devastation caused by seasonal floods.
The announcement has been welcomed by humanitarian organizations, which stress that international support remains crucial as Pakistan continues to cope with recurring climate-induced disasters.
Relief agencies say the new assistance will help bridge urgent gaps in food and water security for thousands of families.
