Muscat, 20 September 2021 (TDI): The Sultan of Oman, Haitham Bin Tarik, congratulated the President of Nepal, Bidhya Devi Bhandari, on 19 September 2021.
19 September 2021 is celebrated as the Constitution Day of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal. The day is celebrated to mark the constitution’s promulgation by the people’s representatives on 20 September 2015.
In the message, the ruler of Oman wished the President of Nepal good health and prosperity. Both the states have a friendly and warm diplomatic relationship.
Sultanate of Oman and Nepal diplomatic ties
The Sultanate of Oman and Nepal have longstanding diplomatic relations. The relations between the two countries were established in 1977.
Cooperation, respect, mutual trust, and understanding in various domains have been the cornerstone of the bilateral relations between the two nations.
The relations between the two countries are cordial and friendly. Before the opening up a residential Embassy in Muscat, the Embassy of Nepal in Riyadh was accredited to Oman.
The Nepal Embassy was opened in Muscat on 1 September 2013. The new chancery of the Embassy of Nepal was formally inaugurated by the Chief of Protocol Department, Mohammad Salim Ali Al-Said, on 20 November 2013.
It was opened in the Diplomatic area of Shatti Al-Qurum and started full-fledged functioning. The Embassy has been upgraded to the Ambassador level with the appointment of Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal.
Thus new potentials for cooperation between the two countries have been unlocked in the areas of trade and investment, tourism, and Human Resources utilization.
Nepal and Oman share similar views on various international agendas as well as issues. Both are members of the United Nations (UN), Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), G-77, and some other global fora.
The two countries have been working together to play an active role in these fora for collective progress, advancement of global peace and security, prosperity, along with the well-being of global citizens.
