Sri Lanka felicitates Cyprus on its Independence Day

Colombo, 1 October 2021 (TDI): The Foreign Ministry of Sri Lanka wished Cyprus on its Independence Day.

Cyprus celebrates its 61st Independence Day. The country celebrates by having a large Military Parade and school festivals. Sri Lanka’s message of congratulations was a positive gesture of goodwill. It expressed best wishes for the prosperity and success of Cyprus.

In 1963, Sri Lanka and Cyprus established diplomatic ties. On February 19, 2019, the Resident Consul General office was established. Over 6,000 Sri Lankans work in Cyprus in a variety of occupations. In addition, two Sri Lankan temples with four permanent Sri Lankan monks are located in Nicosia. Cyprus and Sri Lanka have the potential to expand their economic ties in agricultural products, medicines, crude oil, and chemicals.
