Bangkok, 27 August 2021 (TDI): Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Korea Chung Eui-yong arrived in Thailand and was welcomed by the Director-General of East Asian Affairs upon arrival on August 26 for the 3-day visit until August 28. The visit will focus on enhancing the bilateral cooperation in future industries, health care, and green technologies of the two countries.
Eui-yong paid a courtesy call on Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha. Eui-yong and his Thai counterpart Don Pramudwinai discussed new Southern Policy to deepen diplomatic and economic cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Both affirmed to commit jointly on technology for sustainable development, innovation, digital economy, human resources development, green investment, and fight emerging infectious diseases and other public health threats.
Eui-yong appreciates for Thailand’s continued support for Seoul’s policy initiative on denuclearization and peace on the divided Korean Peninsula. He also appreciates the Thai government’s recent operations to evacuate 390 Afghan co-workers and family members through military transport aircraft and offering refueling support.
