Islamabad (TDI): The soft launch ceremony of the second edition of the Pakistan International Maritime Expo & Conference (PIMEC) was held on Monday, 16th June 2025, at the Marriott Hotel, Islamabad. The main event is scheduled to take place at the Karachi Expo Centre from 3rd to 6th November 2025.
Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and commended the Pakistan Navy for its initiative to highlight the vast potential of Pakistan’s maritime sector through the platform of PIMEC.
In his address, the Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan offers immense opportunities for profitable investments, joint ventures, and trade in the maritime domain. He highlighted that the oceans not only connect nations but also require collective responsibility to ensure their security and sustainable use.

He further stated that Pakistan is committed to promoting international peace, stability, and maritime cooperation, and stressed the untapped potential of the country’s maritime economy. Key sectors such as ship-breaking, trans-shipment ports, fisheries, coastal tourism, water sports, and aquaculture were identified as areas deserving special attention.
Highlighting the importance of public-private partnerships, the Prime Minister called for greater involvement of academia and R&D institutions to enhance productivity and innovation in the sector. He reaffirmed the government’s support in creating a business- and investment-friendly environment, expressing optimism that PIMEC would serve as a key platform for achieving regional peace and shared prosperity.
Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, in his keynote address, described the blue economy as a vital avenue for sustainable growth, improved livelihoods, and marine conservation. He underscored that PIMEC 2025 would be instrumental in harnessing these opportunities and promoting eco-friendly practices across the industry.
Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, acknowledged the valuable participation of distinguished guests, noting that PIMEC has emerged as a flagship biennial event showcasing the latest maritime technologies from both national and international players.

He emphasized that the exhibition would be a platform for entrepreneurs, R&D experts, financial analysts, and policymakers to foster collaboration and innovation in the maritime sector. He expressed hope that PIMEC 2025 would contribute significantly to national economic growth and enhance Pakistan’s maritime stature globally.
Zohair Naseer, CEO of Badar Expo Solutions and co-organizer of the event, in his welcome address expressed pride in once again partnering with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Pakistan Navy for this landmark event. He assured that Badar Expo Solutions, with full support from the stakeholders, would strive to ensure the success of PIMEC 2025, contributing significantly towards harnessing the benefits of the blue economy.
Commodore Ahsen Ali Khan (ACNS-MAPR), during his presentation, recapped the overwhelming success of the inaugural edition of PIMEC and shared insights into how PIMEC 2025 aims to build upon that momentum by encouraging deeper collaboration and unlocking the sector’s vast economic potential.
The launch ceremony was attended by a diverse audience, including federal and provincial ministers, ambassadors, senior military officials, industry leaders, academia, media representatives, and other distinguished guests from various sectors of society.
