Astana, 14 October 2022 (TDI): The Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, met with the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, on the sidelines of the 6th summit of CICA, on Thursday.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, expressed his gratitude during a brief conversation in Arabic with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Shehbaz Sharif also promised continued support to the Palestinian people against the Israeli occupation.

Palestine helped Pakistan and sent help to flood-affected families in Pakistan. The Palestinian authorities sent a rapid response and rescue team to Pakistan while the country was dealing with flash floods.
Shehbaz Sharif thanked the Palestinian President in a brief interaction before wrapping up his two-day visit to Kazakhstan.
Both parties exchanged cordial feelings for their respective countries and mentioned the support the two countries have been extending to each other in different contexts.
He was there in Kazakhstan to participate in the sixth summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
Sharif praised the Palestinian President by saying “Thank you very much for your help during the floods. We cannot forget the way Palestine helped the flood victims.” He also said that Palestine is in their hearts and is part of their faith.
“Pakistan can never forget Palestinians and will continue to raise its voice for your rights until your success.” Prime Minister added.
In response to that, the President of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, described Pakistan as their home. He also said that Palestine had supported Pakistan even before its independence.
He also said that Pakistanis are our brothers and sisters and they are the people of their home. Pakistan has always advocated for the Palestinian right to self-determination and has not recognized Israel or maintained diplomatic relations with it.
