Tashkent, 29 December 2021 (TDI): SCO Secretary-General Vladimir Norov awarded medals to a notable group of activists to acknowledge their services, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The commemorative ceremony took place in the building of the Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS).
The commemorative medals “20th anniversary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization” were awarded to officials of permanent bodies, civil servants, and public figures of the SCO member states, as well as those who have contributed to the organization of the SCO.
The Rector of Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies (TSUOS), Rikhsieva Gulchehra Shavkatovna was also awarded the medal “20th Anniversary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization”. The medals were conferred as a sign of gratitude and appreciation to the representatives of other structures.
Jumakhon Fayozovich Giyosov, the Director of the Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) was also awarded a medal for his commendable services, during the ceremony.
Shanghai Cooperation Organization
The SCO is one of the largest and most significant trans-regional structures in the world. Whilst the SCO region is one of the world’s largest and most strategically important regions.
It is home to nearly half the world’s population which includes the population of China, India, and Russia. Presently, the Secretary-General is the representative of Uzbekistan, Vladimir Norov for 3 years. However, his term will be expiring on December 31 this year.
With regards to greater regional cohesion, Vladimir Norov called for greater economic cooperation, security, and stability in the SCO, the fight against separatism, terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties, and expansion of energy partnerships. SCO aims to maintain security, combat terrorism and separatism.
