Washington D.C (TDI): During yesterday’s APEC proceedings, Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken had a conversation with Japanese Foreign Minister Iwaya Takeshi.
The Secretary and Foreign Minister underscored the importance of the U.S.-Japan Alliance, which has evolved into a truly global relationship, as the cornerstone of Indo-Pacific security and prosperity.
They discussed the increased deployment of DPRK military to Russia and condemned the DPRK’s October 31 ICBM launch.

In order to promote peace, prosperity, and security in the Indo-Pacific region and around the world, they underlined the importance of strengthening cooperation through the G7, Quad, and U.S.-Japan-Philippines trilateral, among other channels.
They also committed to further institutionalize U.S.-Japan-ROK trilateral cooperation.
The Secretary underlined the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and the US’s resistance to unilateral attempts to change the current situation in the Indo-Pacific region.
The U.S. secretary Blinken and Japanese Foreign Minister Iwaya Takeshi committed to closely align their countries’ economic and technology goals was reaffirmed by the Secretary and Foreign Minister.
