Tashkent, 12 January 2022 (TDI): The traditional culture of every nation or ethnic group is incomplete without music. Oral folk art, musical instruments, and songs define the peculiarities of the mentality of a specific ethnic group or country.
Music has immense power to bring people together. Every nation has its own unique musical as well as spoken language. This musical language is understandable to all other peoples without translation as compared to the spoken language.
Music stems from noble intentions as reverence for spiritual wealth, further development of mutual respect between peoples, and accomplishment of global stability and peace through the exchange of experience and ideas.
As per its objectives, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Center for Public Diplomacy in Uzbekistan is to uphold a spirit of solidarity and unity amongst diverse countries through music.
This initiative was skillfully carried forward by the “Assalom” ensemble of folk instruments under the leadership of the famous master-musician of the country, Abdukhalil Isayev.
Folk melodies of eight SCO member states i.e. Kazakhstan, China, India, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan were played in a short time, on the Uzbek folk instruments.
The best folk melodies from Kazakh folk music were selected: “Soul Music”, from Indian films “The Vagabond” and “Disco Dancer”, Chinese folk music “Emperor”, Pakistani folk music “Dance”, Popular Russian melodies selected were “Kalinka” “Smuglyanka”, “Katyusha”, and “Korobeyniki”, Kyrgyz folk music “Tumarim”, Uzbek folk melody “Festive Music”, as well as Tajik folk music “Lali Yaman”.
The melodies of the peoples of the SCO member states can be watched and listened here. Indubitably, these symphonies elicit warm sentiments in the souls of the listeners.
Moreover, they strengthen friendly and good-neighborly relations between the SCO member countries along with contributing to a better understanding of the musical art and culture of the peoples of the member states.
