Beijing, 4 July 2023 (TDI): On Tuesday, Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) issued a statement emphasizing security and digital transformation cooperation during the 3rd meeting of the Council of Heads of State of SCO.

The statement highlighted that member states are committed to tackling radicalization leading to terrorism, separatism, and extremism. They wanted to improve cooperation in law enforcement and security, encourage collaboration among nations, strengthen coordination globally, regionally, and nationally, uphold fair and comprehensive security, and work together to address various security threats and challenges.

Moreover, the statement emphasized that member states, following the Shanghai Spirit, are dedicated to working together to enhance regional peace, security, and stability.

They urged the international community to support the United Nations in its central role, avoid politicizing issues and using double standards, and enhance global cooperation in countering terrorism.

With regard to working together in digital transformation, it mentioned that digital transformation is a powerful factor in worldwide, fair, and long-lasting progress.

It helps in reaching the targets of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The statement emphasized the need for member states to work together in order to understand the possibilities of digitalization in different areas.

It highlighted the importance of integrating the digital economy with the real economy. Additionally, the statement mentioned that the full potential of digital technologies to change social, economic, and cultural aspects of life has yet to be fully explored.
