Saudi Foreign Minister Arrives in Singapore

Singapore, 14 January 2022 (TDI): Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Prince Faisal bin Farhan al Saud has arrived in Singapore Yesterday.

Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Bala Krishnan hosted the visiting guest in the country.

The development was announced by Foreign Minister Bala through his Twitter account.

Saudi Foreign Minister’s tour to Singapore is an introductory visit to the Southeast Asian country.

The two countries have been marking the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between them this year.

During the meeting between Foreign Ministers, they have discussed ways to deepen cooperation among them.

They have also underlined the challenges of living with the pandemic COVID-19. The matters related to safe cross-border travel also came into the discussion between them.

Hajj Quota

During the meeting, Dr Vivian Bala Krishnan also found an opportunity to ask his Saudi Foreign Minister for the increase in the Hajj quota for Singaporean Muslims.

He noted that he is well familiar with the desire of the Muslims of Singapore to visit Mecca for Umrah and Hajj.

Foreign Minister Bala also hoped that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will consider their request positively.

Meeting with President and Prime Minister

Later the day, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan al Saud also held separate meetings with the President and Prime Minister of Singapore.

During the meeting with President Halimah Yacob, Minister Faisal bin Farhan extended greetings from King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

In response, President Yacob also conveyed her greetings to the king, the crown prince of the Kingdom.

In a meeting with Prime Minister Lee, the Prince discussed the enhancement of bilateral cooperation for international peace and security.
