Riyadh, 30 October 2021 (TDI): Saudi Arabia has requested the Ambassador of Lebanon to leave within 48 hours over “annoying” remarks by a Lebanese Minister.
The Kingdom has likewise forced a sweeping restriction on all imports from Lebanon. The move comes days after comments by Lebanon’s Minister about the Saudi-drove military mission in Yemen.
For its part, the Arab League said on Saturday it was worried about the breaking down relations, and encouraged Gulf nations “to ponder the actions proposed to be taken… to stay away from additional adverse consequences on the imploding Lebanese economy”.
Furthermore, Bahrain and Kuwait have opted for Saudi Arabia’s decision to organize the expulsion of the Lebanese Ambassador. Therefore, Lebanon’s Minister of Foreign Affairs has said he lamented the Saudis’ choice and trusted they would reexamine.
He was managing a cell whose main task is to heal the rift to overcome the unfortunate new dispute. He strongly highlighted that what is happening is a problem and not a crisis. Consequently, it can be overcome and resolved through sincere brotherly dialogue and restore the Ambassador of Lebanon to the Kingdom.
