Riyadh, 8 February 2023 (TDI): The King of Saudi Arabia, Salman Abdul Aziz Bin al-Saud, and Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman conveyed their condolences on the death of Pakistan’s former President General Pervez Musharraf.
The King and Crown Prince expressed their condolences to Pakistan’s President, Dr. Arif Alvi. They extended condolences to the former President’s family. They sent prayers to the afterlife for the departed.

Pervez Musharraf- Saudi Arabia Connections
Pervez Musharraf was a politician and retired four-star army general. He became the President in 1999. He seized power in a military coup in 1999 and ruled until 2008.
The bond between Musharraf and Saudi Arabia was strong and productive which helped in strengthening the ties between the two nations.
He maintained strong ties with the Royal family of Saudi Arabia. As a result of these ties, Saudi Arabia was able to offer Pakistan significant economic and military assistance.

During the tenure of Musharraf, the level of trust and cooperation between the two nations continued to grow.
Likewise, during his presidency, Musharraf got significant political influence from Saudi Arabia. This support assisted in stabilizing the Pakistani economy and bolstering Pakistan’s standing in the region.
However, the aftermath of the War on Terrorism in 2001 put a strain on the relationship between the two countries. Nevertheless, the Saudi authorities praised Musharraf’s dedication to the war on terror and efforts to combat religious extremism later.
