Kinshasa, 6 July 2023 (TDI): South African President Cyril Ramaphosa was invited by the President of Congo, Félix Tshisekedi, to co-chair the session of the 12th Bi-National Commission in Congo.
President Cyril Ramaphosa was welcomed by Congolese Prime Minister, Sama Lukonde and South African Minister of Foreign Affairs, Naledi Pandor at the N’djili International Airport.
President Félix Tshisekedi welcomed President Cyril Ramaphosa in the Palais de la Nation (Palace of the Nation) for a working visit.
President Félix Tshisekedi also held a state dinner in honor of the South African President at the State House.
The 12th Bi-National Commission in Congo has provided a platform for both leaders to discuss bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual concern.
Through this platform, both countries aim to ally cooperation in defense, infrastructure, energy, agriculture, and financial matters.

Both sides plan to strengthen the relationship while providing an opportunity to invest safely in matters of mutual concern.
A meeting of high-level officials was held before the Presidents of both countries met for the session on the Bi-National Commission. The presidents were accompanied by their respective ministers in the BNC.
The high-level officials consist of four commissions from both sides that were Governance, Defence, Economy, and Infrastructure, and the Humanitarian Commission.
Business Forum
Both presidents and their ministers also attended the Business Forum that was organized on the sidelines of the 12th Bi-National Commission in Congo.
This forum primarily focused on agriculture, infrastructure, health, and mining sectors with huge opportunities for future trade and investments.
South African Minister of Foreign Affairs, Naledi Pandor, said during the meeting of high-level officials that this platform will provide private business owners to invest.
She also stressed the significance of cooperation and admired the officials working for the success of this Business Forum.
