Rwanda strengthens ties with Zambia

President of the Republic of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, met with the President of the Republic of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema

Kigali, 21 June 2023 (TDI): President of the Republic of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, met with the President of the Republic of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema.

President Hakainde Hichilema was invited to a two-day visit to the capital. He was welcomed by his counterpart.

Both discussed vital areas of partnership, including trade, extradition, agriculture production, and many other opportunities for knowledge exchange between the two countries.

President Hakainde visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where he laid wreaths to honor 250,000 lives lost here. He said that this tragedy is a reminder that the path to peace is dialogue.

Both leaders held one-on-one meetings to deepen the bond of friendship and to create new opportunities for the benefit of the people of Zambia and Rwanda.

The meeting took place in Urugwiro Village, where both leaders discussed strengthening the relationship between both countries.

After the meeting, a press conference was held where many questions were answered by different organizations.

President Kagame said that both countries have a large young population that is full of energy and talent.

He also said that he wants to work together with everyone to invest in the young population for a better and more sustainable, and innovative Africa.

Fintech Forum 2023

Fintech Forum was hosted by the Kigali International Financial Centre and Elevandi. It took place at the Kigali Convention Centre.

President Kagame and President Hichilema attended the Leaders Session of the forum.

During the event, President Kagame emphasized the importance of ensuring women’s active participation in the Fintech space.

President Kagame also mentioned the foresight of investing in digital technologies early on, stating that it enhanced other activities rather than conflicting with them.

He also emphasized that their decision to prioritize digital technology investments has been proven right and has accelerated their intended goals.

After everything, President Hichilema visited the Kigali Special Economic Zone, A good example of value addition & agro-processing that creates jobs & invigorates the economy.
