Beijing, 21 June 2023 (TDI): Premier Li Qiang has confirmed his participation in the highly anticipated 14th Annual Meeting of the New Champions, taking place in Tianjin on June 27. The Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson, Mao Ning, made the announcement during a press briefing held on June 20.

As a distinguished attendee, Premier Li will partake in several pivotal events during the conference, including the opening ceremony, where he will deliver a keynote speech. The Premier is also scheduled to meet with Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab of the World Economic Forum, as well as other esteemed foreign dignitaries and global business leaders affiliated with the World Economic Forum.

The focal point of this year’s annual meeting revolves around the theme “Entrepreneurship: The Driving Force of the Global Economy.” Premier Li’s presence at the event signifies China’s commitment to fostering an environment that nurtures innovation and promotes economic growth on a global scale.

Joining Premier Li are other notable leaders, including Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley of Barbados, Prime Minister Luvsannamsrai Oyun-Erdene of Mongolia, Prime Minister Chris Hipkins of New Zealand, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh of Viet Nam, and Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala of the World Trade Organization.

These esteemed individuals will not only participate in the annual meeting but also engage in official visits to China on the sidelines of the conference, deepening bilateral relationships and expanding avenues for cooperation.

It is an initiative by World Economic Forum (WEF).  WEF is returning to the tradition of its “Summer Davos” and convening the 14th Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Tianjin, People’s Republic of China.

The Meeting will gather over 1,500 global leaders from business, government, civil society, and international organizations, as well as from among innovators and academics, at a crucial time for the global economic recovery.
