Baghdad, 4 October 2023 (TDI): The Assistant to the President of Russia, Igor Levitin along with the Russia delegation met with the Prime Minister of Iraq, Muhammad Shia al-Sudani on October 3, in Baghdad.
The two sides during the meeting discussed the bilateral relations between Russia and Iraq, followed by negotiating on enhancing cooperation in various fields.
The Prime Minister of Iraq during the meeting discussed launching the Development Road and the Al-Faw Grand Port projects as part of Iraq’s government policy to shift towards a diversified economy and not to merely rely on oil.
The Prime Minister of Iraq Al-Sudani also noted that the Development Road and the Al-Faw Grand Port are sustainable economic projects due to their significance to countries in the region and their importance in accelerating integration with other trade corridors.
Besides that, both sides discussed the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Al-Sudani to Moscow.
The Russian Presidential Assistant also conveyed the greetings of the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, to the Prime Minister of Iraq, stressing Russia’s eagerness to promote cooperation with Iraq in various fields.
Meeting with the Iraqi Oil Minister and Transport Minister
The Russian Presidential Assistant Levitin on the same day held talks with the Oil Minister of Iraq, Hayyan Abdul-Ghani.

During the negotiation, the Russian Presidential Assistant discussed ways to develop Russian-Iraqi cooperation in the field of energy.
The Russian Presidential Assistant Levitin also held discussions with the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Iraq, Razzaq Muhaibis, where he discussed developing relations between the two countries in the transport sector and implementing joint projects.
