Moscow, 29 September 2023 (TDI): The Afghan Foreign Minister, Maulawi Amir Khan Muttaqi on his two-day visit to Russia met with Edelgeriev Ruslan Said-Khusainovich, Adviser to the Russian President, on September 28.

During the meeting, the Afghan Foreign Minister emphasized strengthening the political and economic relations between Russia and the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA).

He also talked about taking practical steps in the field of trade and developing cooperation in other various fields.

During the meeting, Foreign Minister Muttaqi highlighted the achievements of IEA in drug prevention, treatment of addicts, strengthening of ideal security, elimination of Daesh, and protection of Afghanistan’s borders.

The Adviser to the Russian President on his part praised the effective steps taken by IEA in the areas of drug prevention, security, and counter-terrorism.

The Adviser to the Russian President also emphasized that the real picture of the current developments in Afghanistan should be presented to the international community so that everyone can understand the truth.

Lastly, both sides expressed their satisfaction over holding the meeting and took note of interacting in the fields of climate change, education, trade, agriculture, industry, and sports.

Other engagements

The Afghan Foreign Minister, besides meeting with the Adviser to the Russian President, also visited the Embassy of Afghanistan in Russia and assigned responsibilities to the officials there, for further improving the affairs and cooperation.

It is pertinent to note that he along with his delegation had embarked on their visit to Russia on September 25, to participate in the Moscow format meeting at the official invitation of the Russian Federation. The Moscow format meeting will take place in Kazan on September 29.
