Moscow, 26 August 2021 (TDI): President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin communicated with the President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez via Telephonic call on Tuesday.
During the conversation, the Cuban President informed Putin that Cuba is in distress under the external pressure of sanctions on the country. With that, the Cuban government is facing difficulty in sanitation and health services for countering the COVID outbreak. Amid these crises, Russian humanitarian aid and support including medicines, food, medical equipment, and machinery have helped people to cope with this difficult time. He conveyed the gratitude of the Cuban people to the Russain Government for the assistance. In addition, both sides expressed confidence in the longstanding friendship and cordial bilateral ties of Russia and Cuba. Both leaders vowed to enhance the strategic Russo- Cuban partnership. Also, both parties stressed joint projects, particularly in trade and economy.
The presidents agreed to engage actively on different forums in the future to foster healthy bilateral relationships.
