Huangshan, 30 March 2022 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, met the Russian Federation’s Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov.
The meeting took place today in China on the sidelines of the Third Ministerial Meeting of Neighboring Countries of Afghanistan.

The two Foreign Ministers deliberated upon bilateral relations between Pakistan and Russia. They also exchanged views on the regional situation.
It is pertinent to note that Prime Minister Imran Khan recently visited Moscow and the Foreign Ministers of Russia and Pakistan also held a telephonic dialogue earlier this month.
During the meeting, the Foreign Minister of Pakistan shared Pakistan’s principled stance on the situation in Ukraine. He also discussed the cessation of hostilities, efforts for a solution through dialogue and diplomacy, and the provision of humanitarian assistance.

Along these lines, he expressed optimism that talks between Russia and Ukraine would be successful to find a diplomatic solution. Foreign Minister Qureshi also expressed Pakistan’s willingness to strengthen efforts for a diplomatic solution including via the OIC forum.
The Foreign Minister of Pakistan is visiting China to take part in the Third Ministerial Meeting of Neighboring Countries of Afghanistan. The meeting began on 29 and will last till 31 March 2022.
The Foreign Minister of Russia on his part stated that it’s common knowledge that “those who tried to make Afghanistan center of the world politics, now try to make Ukraine replace Afghanistan. And we all understand what it is about!”
