Russian Foreign Minister meets his Angolan Counterpart

Moscow, 13 October 2021 (TDI): Foreign Minister of Russia, Sergey Lavrov met with the Foreign Minister of Angola, Téte António in Moscow.

Both countries’ representatives reaffirmed their commitment to boosting multifaceted trade, economic, and investment ties. As well as ties in the defense industry, cultural sphere, and beyond, during the meetings and conversations. This meeting was held in the spirit of friendship and understanding characteristics of Russia-Angola relations. They noted that Russia and Angola’s positions on key issues of the day were similar. The leaders stressed their mutual interest in further aligning the two countries’ foreign policy efforts in the UN and other international venues while discussing a number of current issues on the international and regional agenda.

In Luanda, Russia has an embassy. Angola has an embassy in Moscow as well as an honorary consulate in Saint Petersburg. Following Angola’s independence, the precursor to Russia, the Soviet Union, maintained ties.
