Moscow, 2 September 2023 (TDI): The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, inaugurated the UAE lecture hall at Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) on September 1, in Moscow.
In his inaugural address, the Foreign Minister called the event of inauguration to be progressive in promoting the strategic partnership and cooperation between UAE and Russia.
Moreover, he stated that UAE has recently emerged as Russia’s top trade partner in the Arab world with their trade approaching 10 billion dollars.
Additionally, he highlighted that in July 2023, the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan visited St. Petersburg to hold talks with President Vladimir Putin.
The Foreign Minister also stated that efforts are continued by the investment institutions and transport companies of both countries to develop their ties.
He added that this step meets the interests of both UAE and Russia and people of both countries are also to get substantial benefits from expanded socioeconomic ties.

Furthermore, the Russian Foreign Minister also mentioned the membership of UAE in BRICS and added to proactively support Abu Dhabi’s interest in becoming part of this important and emerging platform.
“I am certain that together we will bring even more justice and democracy into international relations.
”, the Russian Foreign Minister stated.
Furthermore, he delineated that the results of the close cooperation between the UAE and Russia have also been on display within the UN Security Council, where the UAE has a non-permanent seat in 2022 and 2023.
Lastly, the Russian Foreign Minister stated, “It is quite natural that we’re witnessing this landmark event today.
I hope you will become frequent visitors at the UAE lecture hall, while my wish for His Excellency Ambassador is that this room offers more added value.”
The Head of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), Anatoly Torkunov, and the Ambassador of UAE to Moscow, Mohammed Ahmed Sultan Essa Al Jaber also attended the ceremony.
