Vienna, 26 August 2021- (TDI): The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov was on his official two-day visit to Vienna, Austria. He was scheduled to hold talks with Chancellor of Austria Sebastian Kurz and Foreign Minister of Austria, Alexander Schallenberg.
Chancellor Sebastian Kurz took to Twitter and shared that they discussed various issues such as the fight against the Covid 19, Afghanistan, Belarus, economy, civil society, cultural cooperation as well as relations between the EU and Russia.
The FM of Austria said that Austria-Russia relations are strong, with long diplomatic ties. Furthermore, he said that their relations and those between the EU and Russia have undergone stress tests, but their aim is focused on dialogue instead of silence. Austria is one of Russia’s key partners in the region of Europe. During their informal lunch, FM Schallenberg and Russian FM Lavrov discussed the accelerating crisis in the region of Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, Belarus, and Yemen. Both exchanged their thoughts that dialogue and diplomacy are more important than ever.
