Russia has no plans to evacuate its embassy in Kabul

-

Kabul, 15 August 2021 (TDI): On Sunday, Zamir Kabulov, Russian Presidential envoy to Afghanistan, stated that Russia has no plans and arrangements to evacuate its embassy staff in Kabul.

The scale and pace of the Taliban’s advances have astounded Afghanistan and the US-led coalition. According to the Interfax news agency, the Russian ambassador and his staff are carrying out their responsibilities peacefully. Taliban have invaded Kabul after a week-long onslaught ahead of the final evacuation of US security forces. The Taliban have stated that they do not intend to capture the capital by force. However, the United States and the United Kingdom are evacuating their embassies in Kabul. But Russia has stated that it will not do so.

It appears that the game is shifting. As a new government will be formed and the Russian embassy remains open, the partners appear to be changing as well.
