New York City, 9 February 2024 (TDI): Dimitry Polyanskiy, First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations (UN), exposes the Kosovo crisis and sheds light on the ongoing situation in Kosovo before the Security Council.
He asserted that the “Serb population of the Autonomous Province of Kosovo risk being physically driven out of the area.” This is because the Pristina authorities are creating unbearable living conditions for them.
Dimitry Polyansik highlighted the alarming measures employed by the Kosovo authorities. These measures include, but are not limited to, attacks on Serbs and their property, acts of intimidation, and systematic vandalism against Orthodox shrines.
He also pointed out the violation of non-Albanian citizens’ electoral rights and the usurping of Serbian cultural heritage. Moreover, he highlighted the systematic sabotage of the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities (CSM), a key commitment made during the EU-mediated dialogue with Serbia.
Dmitry #Polyanskiy at UN Security Council on the situation in #Kosovo:
💬In order to see how to establish lasting peace on Serbian soil, we need to recall the real cause of today’s dramatic developments. I mean the NATO aggression against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.… pic.twitter.com/g9rfbYx26y

NATO interventional actions
In addition, Polyansik asserted that American and European colleagues are trying their best to ignore these acts of ethnic cleansing.
To establish enduring peace on Serbian soil, he emphasized the crucial importance of reflecting on the root cause of the current dramatic developments. This cause, he pointed out, was the NATO aggression against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
The NATO intervention led by the United States and its allies against Yugoslavia had a devastating impact on the region. It resulted in civilian casualties, environmental costs, and annihilation of infrastructure.
Dimitry Polyansik referred to the “criminal actions” of the US. He said that NATO would be cursed by the “next 60 generations of people doomed to suffer health issues.”

Also, he reminded the international community about the controversial remarks of the former U.S. Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright who described the civilian casualties resulting from the bombings as “collateral damage.”
Polyansik emphasized the necessity for urgent measures to protect Kosovo Serbs. He called on the UN Security Council to demand that Pristina cease its crackdown on them. This includes the lifting of all discriminatory measures.
He concluded that the only way to establish lasting peace on Serbian soil is to elaborate a sustainable, mutually acceptable international legal solution between Belgrade and Pristina. This solution should be based on United Nations Security Council resolution 1244.
