Riyadh, 9 September 2024, (TDI): Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Russia places huge emphasis on developing better ties with Gulf countries in the domain of economy, technology, trade and different international issues.
He highlighted the Gulf region’s central role in global affairs and the significance of ongoing collaboration.
Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is on his official visit to Riyadh to attend the seventh GCC-Russia Joint Ministerial Meeting for Strategic Dialogue.
This dialogue aims to enhance cooperation between Russia and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries on political, economic, and security matters. He has conducted several diplomatic meetings with top Saudi officials on the sidelines of this dialogue.
Meeting with Saudi FM Faisal bin Farhan
Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a meeting with his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan.
The two foreign ministers discussed different aspects of the bilateral relations between Russia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
They discussed different regional and global geopolitical developments. Moreover, they reaffirmed their commitment to enhance cooperation on political, economic, and security affairs.
Talks with Muhammad bin Salman
Later, the Russian Foreign Minister held a meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The two sides underscored the need for deeper diplomatic relations.
They reaffirmed that open dialogue between two countries on matters of shared interest is vital for the interests of both sides.
Dialogue with GCC Secretary-General
In addition, the Russian Foreign Minister met with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi during his official visit to Riyadh.
The meeting focused on strengthening ties between Russia and the Gulf nations.
Lavrov said that Russia places huge emphasis on developing better ties with Gulf countries in the domain of economy, technology, trade and different international issues.
