Bali, 15 November 2022 (TDI): Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov arrived in Bali to participate in the G20 (Group of Twenty) Summit.
Foreign Minister Lavrov is heading the Russian delegation as Putin could not attend the Summit. The Indonesian President, Joko Widodo welcomed him.
Foreign Minister Lavrov is expected to advocate for Russia’s unrestricted export of its grains and fertilizers. As well as, he will also address the issue of increased gas supplies to Turkiye.
After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, this is the first meeting of the leaders of the G20 summit. There is no confirmation of Russian President, Vladimir Putin attending the Summit virtually.
As per reports, the West has been pressurizing Indonesian Officials not to invite the Russian President or else they would boycott the Summit. But the Indonesian President, Joko Widodo has resisted such pressures.

He earlier told about a conversation with Russia’s President, Vladimir Putin who told him that he will attend the meeting depending on the conditions. He has also invited Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, though Ukraine is not a member of the G20.
G20 Summit
Bali is hosting the 17th G20 meeting, the meeting of the 20 largest economies of the world. It will mark the conclusion of several ministerial gatherings, working groups, & engagement groups that happened over the Indonesian G20 Presidency’s year-long tenure.
At the Summit, there will be an emphasis on significant global challenges in line with the summit’s theme, “Recover Together, Recover Stronger.”
In the Agenda, there are three working sessions. The opening session of the summit is focused on food and energy which will be held today.
While later the members will discuss the healthcare issues. The third session will be on 16th November and will focus on digital transformation.
Moreover, the major issues that will be discussed are financial stability, the economy, sustainable development, and climate change mitigation
